The 1324 Baccarat Strategy

The 1-3-2-4 baccarat system is a positive progression strategy. You start with one betting unit and increase the stake after each win using the sequence 1, 3, 2, 4. If you lose at any stage, you reset to the beginning.

The system is designed so that later bets are made with money already won earlier in the sequence. That can make the progression feel safer than a system such as Martingale, where stakes grow after losses.

But the 1-3-2-4 system does not change the probability of the next baccarat hand. It only changes how much money you have exposed after a series of wins.

The system can turn a short winning streak into a larger profit, but it cannot make that streak more likely to happen.

How Does the 1-3-2-4 Baccarat System Work?

The name tells you the order of the bets. If your starting unit is $10, the progression is $10, $30, $20 and $40.

You move to the next stake only after a win. If any bet loses, the progression ends and you return to $10 for the next cycle.

If you win all four bets, the sequence is complete and you reset to the starting unit.

What Happens at Each Stage of the 1-3-2-4 System?

Using Player bets gives us the cleanest example because Player pays 1:1.

Where the Sequence Ends Bets Made Net Result
Lose first bet $10 -$10
Win first, lose second $10, $30 -$20
Win first two, lose third $10, $30, $20 +$20
Win first three, lose fourth $10, $30, $20, $40 +$20
Win all four $10, $30, $20, $40 +$100

This is the feature that makes 1-3-2-4 attractive. Once the first two bets have won, losing the third or fourth Player bet still leaves the completed cycle in profit.

That does not mean profit is guaranteed overall, because many cycles end on the first or second bet.

Why Is the Second Bet the Most Dangerous Part of the Sequence?

Because it is three times the starting unit while you have only earned one unit from the first win.

With a $10 starting stake, winning the first hand puts you $10 ahead. The next bet is $30. If it loses, the cycle finishes $20 down.

This is the largest loss produced by the standard Player version of the progression. Later stages use accumulated winnings to absorb more of the risk.

Is Profit Really Guaranteed After Two Wins?

Yes, within that particular Player-bet cycle.

After winning $10 and then $30, you are $40 ahead. The third stake is $20, so even if it loses, you finish $20 ahead. If the third bet wins, your running profit becomes $60 and the final $40 wager can also lose while leaving $20 profit.

This is a useful feature of the progression, but it should not be confused with guaranteed long-term profit. You first have to win the two opening bets, and failed cycles before or after that still count.

How Much Can You Win With the 1-3-2-4 System?

If all four Player bets win, the profit equals ten starting units.

With a $10 unit, that is $100. With a $25 unit, it is $250. The arithmetic scales with the starting stake.

The system therefore concentrates more money into a winning run without requiring the stakes to double repeatedly.

Does the 1-3-2-4 System Work the Same on Banker?

No, not exactly.

The standard Banker bet has the lower house edge, but a winning Banker wager normally pays 0.95:1 after the usual 5% commission. That means a $10 Banker win produces $9.50 rather than $10.

As a result, the neat Player-bet totals in the table above do not transfer directly to Banker. The progression still works as a staking pattern, but the actual profit at each stage is slightly lower.

Should You Use Banker or Player With 1-3-2-4?

Banker usually offers the better underlying expected value, while Player gives the cleaner 1:1 progression.

Under common eight-deck rules, the Banker house edge is about 1.06% and Player about 1.24%. That small advantage belongs to the Banker bet itself, not to the 1-3-2-4 system.

Does a Baccarat Tie Break the Sequence?

Usually, no.

A standard Tie result pushes Player and Banker bets, which means your stake is returned. In practical terms, the progression normally stays at the same stage and waits for the next decided hand.

If you had already won the first two bets and then the third hand tied, you would normally still be waiting to place or resolve the third-stage wager.

Does the 1-3-2-4 System Improve Your Baccarat Odds?

No. The probability of Banker, Player or Tie does not change because you are on the first, second or fourth stage of the progression.

The cards determine the outcome. The 1-3-2-4 sequence only determines how much you choose to risk on that outcome.

This is the same reason a larger bet after two wins does not become more likely to win just because you have reached the profitable part of the system.

Does Winning Two Hands Mean a Streak Is Developing?

No. Two consecutive wins tell you what just happened, not what the next hand will do.

The system benefits financially when a streak continues because the later bets are larger, but it has no method for predicting whether the streak will continue.

This is an important difference between exploiting a streak after it occurs and forecasting one before the next hand is dealt.

How Often Will a Full 1-3-2-4 Sequence Complete?

Less often than it may feel when looking only at the $100 winning outcome.

To complete a Player progression, you need four consecutive winning Player decisions. Since Player wins slightly less than half of decided baccarat hands, four straight Player wins are a normal but relatively uncommon sequence.

Most cycles therefore end before reaching the fourth win. That is why the smaller losses and partial-sequence profits matter just as much as the headline ten-unit result.

Can You Win More Sessions With the 1-3-2-4 System?

It can change the shape of your session results, but it does not improve the expected value of the baccarat bets underneath them.

Some cycles lose one unit, some lose two, some finish two units ahead, and an occasional full sequence earns ten. This creates a different pattern from flat betting even though the same Banker or Player probabilities remain underneath it.

A system can therefore feel more successful because its wins arrive in a particular shape without becoming mathematically profitable.

Is 1-3-2-4 Safer Than Martingale?

It avoids one of Martingale’s biggest problems because it does not increase stakes after losses.

Under Martingale, a losing run forces the player into larger and larger wagers while already behind. With 1-3-2-4, one loss ends the progression and sends the stake back to the starting unit.

That prevents the exponential loss chasing seen in Martingale. It does not eliminate the baccarat house edge, but the progression cannot spiral upward during a losing streak in the same way.

How Is 1-3-2-4 Different From Paroli?

Both are positive progression systems because both increase stakes after wins.

Paroli commonly uses a 1-2-4 sequence, while this system uses 1-3-2-4. The unusual part is that the stake drops from three units to two after the second win before rising to four.

That structure is what allows a loss on the third or fourth Player bet to leave the cycle two units ahead after the first two bets have succeeded.

Why Not Just Keep Increasing the Bet After Every Win?

You can, but that creates a different progression with different risk.

The 1-3-2-4 sequence deliberately caps the cycle after four wins. Continuing beyond it exposes more accumulated profit to later hands and makes the stakes larger.

Resetting is therefore a bankroll rule rather than a prediction that a winning run is about to end.

Does Starting With a Bigger Unit Make the System Better?

No. It only scales the dollar amounts.

A $100, $300, $200, $400 progression has the same underlying baccarat probabilities as a $1, $3, $2, $4 progression. Both simply multiply the financial result by the size of the starting unit.

A bigger starting stake therefore increases both potential profit and potential loss without improving the percentage expectation.

What Does Our 1-3-2-4 Baccarat Test Prove?

The test is useful for showing how the progression behaves in real play and how quickly the running profit changes as you move through each stage.

Our test is shown below:

What it cannot establish is that the system beats baccarat. A winning video proves that a winning session is possible, while a losing video proves that a losing session is possible.

A short test cannot alter the expected value of the underlying wagers.

What Does the 1-3-2-4 System Actually Change?

Part of Baccarat Does 1-3-2-4 Change It? What Actually Changes
Chance Banker wins No The baccarat rules determine it
Chance Player wins No The baccarat rules determine it
House edge No Each bet keeps its normal expected value
Stake after a win Yes The next stake follows the 1-3-2-4 sequence
Value of a four-win streak Yes Later wins occur at larger stakes
Pattern of session results Yes Losses and winning cycles are distributed differently from flat betting

Does the 1-3-2-4 Baccarat System Work?

Yes, if by “work” you mean that it produces the payout pattern it is designed to create. Winning the first two Player bets puts the cycle in a position where losing the third or fourth still leaves a two-unit profit, while winning all four produces ten units.

No, if you mean that the system changes baccarat into a positive-expectation game.

The progression decides when you wager one, three, two or four units. It does not influence the cards, lower the house edge or make the next hand more likely to continue a streak.

The useful feature of 1-3-2-4 is not that it predicts winning runs. It is that it decides in advance how much of a winning run you are prepared to put back at risk.
