Amsterdam Casinos – What Are the Top Venues?

Today, we’re going to answer a question from Emma in Manchester. She’s heading to Amsterdam soon and wants to know about the casino scene there.

This is Emma’s original email.

Hey GamblersPro,

I’m planning a long weekend trip to Amsterdam in a couple of months, and I’m super excited. I’ve always wanted to visit the city and soak up its history, art, and culture. But I’m also a big fan of blackjack and slots, and I was wondering if there are any casinos in Amsterdam? I’ve heard mixed things about gambling in Europe, so I’d love to know where I can find a good place to play. Any recommendations?

Cheers,
Emma

Casinos in Amsterdam

Hi Emma,

Thanks for reaching out! Amsterdam is an incredible city with so much to see and do—you’re going to have an amazing time. And guess what? You’re in luck when it comes to casinos! Unlike some places (looking at you, Bali), gambling is legal and well-regulated in the Netherlands, and there are some great spots in Amsterdam where you can play blackjack, roulette, poker, and more.

To help you out, we’ve put together a quick list of casinos you can check out while you’re there:

Casino Name Address Phone Number Available Games
Holland Casino Amsterdam Max Euweplein 62, 1017 MB +31 20 573 5500 Blackjack, Roulette, Poker, Slots, Punto Banco
Casino City Korte Leidsedwarsstraat 89, 1017 +31 20 626 4259 Slots, Electronic Roulette, Electronic Blackjack
Jack’s Casino Amsterdam Stadhouderskade 9, 1054 ES +31 20 589 1000 Slots, Electronic Roulette, Video Poker

Casino City and Jack’s Casino are smaller venues but still worth checking out if you’re in the area. They focus more on slots and electronic gaming, so if that’s your thing, you’ll find a good selection there. Just keep in mind that the vibe is a little more low-key than Holland Casino.

A couple of things to keep in mind:

  • You’ll need to bring your ID or passport to enter the casinos, and there’s often a small entry fee, especially at Holland Casino.
  • The legal gambling age in the Netherlands is 18, so you’re good to go if you meet that requirement.
  • While you can walk in off the street for most games, poker tournaments often need to be pre-booked, especially at Holland Casino, where they can be quite popular.
  • Amsterdam is a pretty relaxed city, but as always, be mindful of your surroundings, especially late at night. The casino areas are safe, but it never hurts to stay alert when you’re out and about.

Hope this helps, Emma! Have a fantastic time in Amsterdam. Hit the museums, walk the canals, and maybe win a little at the tables. Just don’t forget to grab some stroopwafels and check out the Van Gogh Museum while you’re there. Enjoy the casinos in Amsterdam!

Cheers,
