Are Online Casinos Legal in Chile?

Law No. 19,995 regulates the authorization, operation and supervision of physical casinos. It expressly states that a casino operating permit does not include online games, so a land-based casino licence cannot be used to offer a legal online casino in Chile.

Offshore casino sites that accept Chilean players are not authorized by the Superintendencia de Casinos de Juego. Chile’s Supreme Court has classified unauthorized online gambling platforms as illegal and ordered internet providers to block named sites. Subsequent proceedings have also addressed mirror domains used to bypass those restrictions.

Players using an offshore casino do not receive Chilean regulatory protection or access to a local gambling complaints process. Any account, payment or withdrawal dispute must normally be taken to the operator and whichever overseas authority issued its licence. A bill creating a regulated market for private online gambling platforms is progressing through Congress, but it has not yet become law. As of July 2026, Bill No. 14,838-03 remains under consideration in the Senate.
