Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy is looking to pull off one of the biggest deals of the summer as he moves closer to re-signing club legend Gareth Bale on loan from Spanish giants Real Madrid.
On Wednesday, all of the leading bookmakers dramatically slashed their odds on him returning to the north London club. Our expert EPL predictions staff noted that the best price available on Bale (to Spurs) was 11/4 (3.75) at the start of the day. That was trimmed to as low as 1/5 (1.20) at the close of business.
Manchester United were thought to be leading the race to secure the Welshman’s services, with many bookies offering around 6/5 on him arriving at Old Trafford. Yet, Wednesday’s developments have pushed Bale to United out to 7/1.
It’s not over until pen is put to paper
Tottenham fans are currently in a mixed emotional state of delirium and dreaded fear. According to many, Mr Levy is hard to deal with at the transfer negotiating table, and it’s believed several signings have slipped through the club’s fingers as a result of his demands.
Furthermore, supporters are still reminded of the occasion when Willian arrived at White Hart Lane to have his medical, only for him to be poached from the club at the last second by Chelsea.
It’s going to be an interesting few days as the Premier League awaits Bale’s return, but will it be in the white of Spurs? Or, will United make a last-gasp effort for this highly-talented superstar?
